On-Site Nitrogen Generation

NCA Solutions for On-Site Nitrogen Generation

Numerous applications in Oil and Gas, Chemical and Petrochemical, Mining and other General Manufacturing industries use Nitrogen gas as a process gas or as an inert gas.

Some of these applications include:

  • Nitrogen Gas Injection into Oil and Gas wells during Underbalanced Drilling or in Production stages to enhance the well production performance
  • Ammonia and Fertilizer production facilities
  • Pneumatic Pressure Testing of piping and equipment and pipelines
  • Pipeline Pigging
  • Chemical Blanketing
  • Coal Mine Inertization
  • Packaging
  • Others
The required nitrogen should either be purchased in gaseous or liquid forms from suppliers or be generated on-site. When the nitrogen consumption is continuous or long-term, most companies find that generating their own nitrogen in-house is much more economic, safer and easier.

The air surrounding us is composed of approximately 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, and 1% other gases. Two separation techniques are normally used to separate the gases and deliver high purity nitrogen on-site, namely PSA and Membrane.

Unless extremely high purities of nitrogen (higher than 99.9%) are required for some critical applications which can be delivered by PSA units, Membrane Nitrogen Generation is normally the solution for most of on-site nitrogen needs, as they offer certain advantages in comparison.

NCA Membrane Nitrogen Generators provide purities of 95 to 99.9% by separating the individual air gases through a permeation process inside batches of tiny, hollow polymer fibers.

NCA Canada designs and manufactures Custom-Engineered Membrane Nitrogen Generation packages for its clients in different sectors who need to generate their nitrogen on-site.
